This introductory bacteria set contains three live bacteria representing the common bacterial shapes of rods, spheres, and spirals. These 3 species grow well on nutrient agar and can be viewed using 400x magnification from our Student Microscopes. Each of the cultures come in a test tube on agar media. The culture can be transferred with an inoculating needle. There is sufficient bacteria of each culture to streak 10-15 petri dishes, which would be enough for a classroom of 30 students.
Includes Bacillus subtilis (rods), Micrococcus luteus (spheres), and Rhodospirillum rubrum(spirals).
Live cultures can be difficult to sustain. Care instructions will be provided, but plan to use it within 1-2 days of arrival for best results.
